Special forecasts for specific needs

We can provide forecasts and warnings to meet your specifications. These range from site specific forecasts for construction sites to route forecasts for train operators. We also provide warning services for damaging weather such as strong winds and lightning.

Some examples of tailored forecasts already provided to our customers are:

• Forecasts of low rainfall amounts that cause rail adhesion problems in autumn
• Temperature forecasts for ice on the overhead lines which may cause trains to fail
• Warnings of ice formation on the conductor rail which will affect train performance

Tailored forecasts can be delivered by fax, email, the web or even direct to your mobile phone.

It's not just forecasts. The Met Office has the national archive of weather data and can supply historical data to help investigations into incidents or your performance figures.
