Launched in 2012, Wind Review aims to address the serious concerns raised by the industry about the relatively low wind levels experienced throughout the UK and Europe, particularly the 2009/10 and 2010/11 winters.

We review how the most recent season fared compared to its long-term average, to the same season last year and compared to the previous 12 months.

We also take a closer look at specific sites within five of the 15 regions analysed, using data generated by Virtual Met Mast, the Met Office's site-specific wind analysis tool.

Use Wind Review to:

  • Assess whether your wind farm's under or over performance is due to wind or other factors
  • Evaluate wind farm site performance in context based on recent wind statistics
