Research collaboration will be essential for delivering the predictive capability that the Met Office will require in the coming decade.

We have built a network of academic and research relationships with centres of excellence, by combining skills, capabilities, and aligning research and development programmes.

JWCRP

JWCRP Joint Weather and Climate Research Programme aims to further the interests of the Met Office and NERC in growing the UK's leading role in weather and climate research.

Academic partnership

Academic partnership The Met Office Academic Partnership is a cluster of research excellence that brings together the Met Office with leading UK Universities in weather and climate science.

NWP SAF

NWP SAF The NWP SAF is a collaborative project that develops tools to exploit satellite data for NWP. The NWP SAF is one of eight Satellite Application Facilities funded by EUMETSAT.

Hadobs

Hadobs Researchers at the Met Office Hadley Centre produce and maintain a range of gridded datasets of meteorological variables for use in climate monitoring and climate modelling.

PRECIS

PRECIS Developed at the Met Office Hadley Centre, PRECIS is a regional climate modelling system that can be run on a Linux-based PC by institutes around the World.

NCOF

NCOF The National Centre for Ocean Forecasting is a consortium comprising the Met Office and a number of the UK's leading marine and oceanographic research centres.

CSRP

CSRP The Climate Science Research Partnership (CSRP) is working with African stakeholders to improve the understanding and practical prediction of African climate change in order to help alleviate poverty.
