CWINDE Network

The CWINDE network was originally set up as a demonstration network run under COST76. It is now part of EUMETNET WINPROF Project and renamed as 'The Co-Ordinated Wind Profiler Network in Europe'.

This is a project to use Doppler radars to derive the wind profile, i.e. the speed and direction as a function of height. These pages give some background information and links to real-time data from wind-profilers distributed across Europe.

Explanation of charts

Data are being received on a real-time basis from many of the profilers shown on the CWINDE map. Plots are generated and updated every 30 minutes for each of the CWINDE Wind Profilers and VAD/VVP weather radar winds.

More about the charts

Wind profiler plots

Display wind profiler information from one of the European sites in the network.

Weather radar

Display weather radar data from stations across Europe.

Planviews

These displays are planviews showing winds over the UK and Europe at different heights. In addition to wind profiler data and VAD wind data, the plots also show radiosonde and aircraft observations.

GTS Bulletin header information

The GTS Bulletin document contains information related to the bulletin headers used to distribute wind profiler and weather radar wind data on the GTS. Data from all sites are processed in the CWINDE Hub.
