PRogramme for Integrated Earth System Modelling

PRISM is a research project supported by the European Commission under the Fifth Framework Programme, and contributes to the implementation of the Key Action "To understand, detect, assess and predict global climate change processes" within the Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development. The project goals include the development of a set of portable climate community models and associated diagnostic software under standardised coding conventions.

The Met Office is responsible for leading the work package relating to data management, analysis, visualisation and archiving, with particular responsibility for the development of the data processing library.

The Met Office is carrying out its own internal project called FLUME (Flexible Unified Model Environment) to review the structure of the Unified Model, its own forecasting and climate model. A selection of reports relating to the FLUME project may be of interest to PRISM members.
