  Wave model data and products
underline

Products from the Met Office's global and European wave models are available through both the WMO Global Telecommunications System (GTS) and the Met Office's Data and Products Distribution System (DPDS). Products available on GTS are at a reduced resolution (2.50 by 2.50 for the global wave model and 1.250 by 1.250 for the European wave model) for a limited number of times. Full resolution products for a greater number of times are available via DPDS.

DPDS users can specify how the data should be delivered (automatically or on demand, via e-mail or FTP). The data will be delivered on a daily basis, or can be downloaded as and when needed, and are provided in WMO (World Meteorological Organization) GRIB (Gridded Binary) format.

Global wave model data and products available via DPDS

Global wave model products are available twice daily at 0.830 (N/S) by 1.250 (E/W) resolution. Parameters available are significant wave height, individual (wind-sea and swell) periods, heights and directions, for t+0, t+6, t+12, t+18, t+24, t+30, t+36, t+42, t+48, t+60, t+72, t+84, t+96, t+108 and t+120. The globe is divided into octants for area selection and users can select exactly which parameters are required.

European wave model data and products available via DPDS

European wave model products are available twice daily at 0.250 (N/S) by 0.400 (E/W) resolution. Parameters available are significant wave height, individual (wind-sea and swell) periods, heights and directions, for t+0, t+6, t+12, t+18, t+24, t+30, t+36, t+42, t+48, t+60, t+72, t+84, t+96, t+108 and t+120. Again users can select which parameters are required.
