Argo |
Below is a recent map showing current positions of all operating
floats. UK floats (including both UK Argo floats and additional
'Argo equivalent' research floats) are shown in red, all
other floats are in blue. Click on the highlighted links
in the lists
below to access float data. To date, around 250 UK
floats have been deployed in the Atlantic
Ocean, Indian
Ocean and Southern
Ocean in support of the global Argo float array.

Real-time profile
data from all of these floats are posted on to the WMO
Global Telecommunication System (GTS). These data are
available in WMO TESAC (FM 64-XI) format which permits a
resolution of 0.01 °C in temperature and 0.01 part per
thousand in salinity (psu) and can be accessed via the Japan Argo Real
Time Data Base.
The full-resolution profile
data are also available in near real-time from the UK Argo Data Centre hosted by the British
Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC), who are responsible for
delayed-mode quality control and validation against other data
(moorings, floats, XBTs, climatology) of all UK Argo data.
BODC process the data and make it available in real-time to
the two Argo Global Data Assembly Centres Coriolis and USGODAE.
