Dr Isabelle Mirouze

Isabelle works on data assimilation for ocean models and coupled atmosphere-ocean models.

Current activities

Isabelle is currently working on developing NEMOVAR (a variational data assimilation system for the ocean model NEMO). In particular, she is interested in modelling the background error covariance matrix.
Isabelle is also involved in the development of a coupled atmosphere-land-ocean-ice data assimilation system.

Career background

Before joining the Met Office in early 2012, Isabelle completed her PhD in 2010 at Université Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, France) and CERFACS (Toulouse, France) on the development and implementation of a correlation operator based on the implicit diffusion operator. She then stayed at CERFACS as a postdoctoral researcher to follow on this work.
Before working in applied mathematics, Isabelle worked from 1991 to 2005 in electronics on satellite receiving and monitoring systems for Alcatel (Nanterre, France and Kourou, French Guyana) and SMP (Toulouse, France).
