Maggie works on representing surface processes in weather and climate models with a particular interest in urban areas.
Maggie's area of expertise is urban modelling.
Maggie is currently working on the land surface representation, in particular urban areas, within the Met Office Unified Model using JULES and MORUSES. The latter model was developed in collaboration with the University of Reading, where it is already being used in the LUCID project.
Further information about the role of MORUSES in LUCID.
Maggie has also been involved with the International Urban Energy Balance Models Comparison Project, led by Sue Grimmond at King's College London with three JULES-based urban models including MORUSES.
Maggie joined Atmospheric Processes and Parametrizations in January 2010, but prior to this she was a member of the Land Surface group within Earth System Science since joining the Met Office in 2008. Maggie has a PhD in Astronomy from the University of Cambridge and an MPhys in Astrophysics from the University of Edinburgh.
