Current activities

Matt is currently leading the development of Rose, a new environment for configuring, managing, running and monitoring suites of forecasting applications.

Career background

Matt joined the Met Office in 2002. Matt has written an application for the NWP Area-Based Verification System, and developed some underlying infrastructure for other NWP applications. In 2005, Matt completed the development of the first release of the FCM build and extract system. In 2007-8, Matt was involved in the development of the software for the operational storage environment. Matt went on to lead the development of FCM 2.0, which was released in 2011. Before joining the Met Office, Matt studied Materials Science at Trinity College, University of Oxford, where he obtained an MEng (1st class honour) in 1998 and a DPhil in 2002.
