Regional seasonal guidance

Guidance is issued regularly for a number of specific areas including wet season rainfall in several tropical regions and mean July-August temperature and rainfall in north-west Europe. The guidance is derived from statistical methods and from the Met Office's CGCM (GloSea).

Regional Climate Outlook Fora (RCOF)

Regional Climate Outlook Fora (RCOF) have been set up by national meteorological services and development agencies to produce consensus seasonal rainfall predictions for regions where drought or excess rainfall can have severe social and economic consequences. Predictions are contributed by regional and international forecasting centres, including the Met Office. A consensus forecast is then put together by a conference of climate scientists. RCOFs produce forecasts for regions of Africa, South America and the tropical west Pacific.
