Professional weather forecasting training to national and international (WMO-No.258) standards. The training for forecasters is divided into three programmes — Foundation, Professional development and Specialist.
These courses are for staff (typically WMO technicians) whose duties, within a meteorological organisation, require a basic general understanding of synoptic weather and the use made of numerical weather prediction output.
National and European Union recognised vocational competencies in the workplace — for both weather forecasting and observing.
If you are interested in a career in forecasting you can find out more about the qualifications you will need and the career path you could follow on our career options pages.
All courses will be taught in English. In order to ensure that students make the most of our courses, they must be able to understand, read and write in English at a high level. For students entering a foundation training programme, it may be possible to arrange training in English prior to the course.
