Aviation training

As leaders in aviation meteorology we have developed a wide range of training courses for the aviation community, which:

Aviation training - plane flying over airport

Our training enables meteorological observers to meet International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) requirements and can

help you to better understand and interpret meteorological information, and the impacts of weather on your activities.

They can be delivered at a site convenient to you or at our excellent facilities in Exeter. 

Our courses and training include:

General Aviation

The Met Office College offers a selection of courses covering all aspects of aviation meteorology for the general aviation community.

Air Traffic Control Training

We are contracted by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the UK Meteorology Authority, to train all airfield observers and deliver comprehensive aviation meteorological training.

Offshore Meteorological Observing

The Offshore Meteorological Observing course is designed to enable observers to make accurate aviation weather reports for offshore helicopter operations.

Aeronautical Meteorological Training

We offer training for both aeronautical observers and forecasters which conforms with the latest WMO training and education guidelines.

Commercial Aviation

The Met Office College offers a selection of courses covering all aspects of aviation meteorology for the commercial aviation community.
