Course Length: One day
Location: Courses can be held in the excellent Met Office College facilities at our Exeter headquarters or at a location of your choice.
Aim: To provide you with a basic understanding of the weather in the UK and the impact on the rail industry; to enable you to make informed decisions leading up to and during periods of adverse weather.
On completion of this course you will be able to:
explain the causes and effects on the rail network of strong winds, thunderstorms, snow and ice, flooding and extreme temperatures;
understand forecast limitations and why forecasts can go wrong;
understand the most up-to-date theories on climate change and how it will impact the rail industry.
