Modular meteorology training tailored for renewable energy professionals

Course length: Half day (two modules), full day (four modules). 

Location: Courses can be held in the excellent Met Office College facilities at our Exeter headquarters or at a location of your choice.

Scheduled courses: In response to client feedback we also run scheduled two day courses. Following a series of successful courses delivered in January and March, we will announce further course dates in 2014 shortly.

Aim: To help professionals in the renewable energy industry better understand and interpret meteorological information, so they can optimise operations and site safety.

Modules available:

  • Core module - weather regimes and fronts
  • Weather hazards
  • General wind effects
  • Localised wind effects
  • Sea state
  • Met Office forecasts

Those that use the following Met Office services can have modules added to understand more about them and how to get more from them.

  • VisualEyesTM: a web-based weather alert system to help monitor wind farm assets in the UK and Europe.
  • Virtual Met MastTM: a site-specific, hub-height wind prediction tool specifically designed for wind farm developers and consultants.
  • Wind Production Forecast: a site-specific weather forecast to help customers accurately forecast future power outputs from wind farm assets.
