Senior Trainer, Met Office College
I joined the Met Office in 1973 as an Observer at Glasgow Airport. In 1985 I became a forecaster for the RAF at Kinloss and Lossiemouth in the north of Scotland. I joined the Met Office College in Exeter in 1991 where I've delivered forecasting, observing and IT courses; including the aviation section of our in-house Initial Forecasting Course. Training forecasting staff has also taken me all over the UK and overseas, showing colleagues how to use the new visualisation software being rolled out by the Met Office. My experience in aviation forecasting has also led to delivering training at Exeter to Observers in National Air Traffic Control as well as an aviation seminar for the World Meteorological Organization in Oman, Kenya and Turkey.
