Karl Shepherdson AMF trainer Karl Shepherdson AMF trainer I joined the Met Office in 1999 as a Climate Research Scientist, having studied Meteorology at the University of Reading. Moving into weather forecasting, I spent six years working at different Met Office stations as a Duty Forecaster. I also spent 18 months overseas as a civil and defence Aviation Forecaster, joining the Met Office Operations Centre in Exeter as a Senior Forecaster in 2006. Transferring into the Met Office College as a Senior Trainer, I now deliver meteorology training to staff. A member of the Royal Meteorological Society for almost 17 years, I have served on its Education Committee and was recently made a Fellow. Outside work, I lead the Youth Hostels Association (England and Wales) as its national Vice-Chairman.
