Gadget retirement

The Vista, Firefox and iGoogle gadgets have been retired. The datafeeds to the gadgets have been switched off. The gadgets have been replaced by the new Desktop Widget which is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X. Find out about:

Gadgets are a category of mini-application designed to provide information, useful lookup, or enhance an application or service on your PC. The Met Office has developed weather gadgets for Windows Vista, Mozilla Firefox and iGoogle.

Keep up to date with weather information whilst working on other tasks

What information is available?

My weather: Latest observation for your preferred location
My forecast: Forecast for today and tomorrow for your preferred region
Latest radar: Latest radar image for the UK
Latest infrared satellite: Latest infrared satellite image for the UK
Warnings: Areas are coloured in your preferred region when severe or extreme weather is expected today. In addition, a warning symbol on the header when severe or extreme weather is expected in any region in the next 5 days
Sea areas gale warnings: Sea areas coloured red when gale warnings in force
Inshore waters strong wind warnings: Coastal waters coloured red when strong wind warnings in force

Weather gadget for Windows Vista
The Windows Vista gadget is accessed via the Vista sidebar. The latest weather report is shown at first, more information can be scrolled through on flyouts.

Weather gadget for Mozilla Firefox
On Mozilla Firefox, the information is presented in a sidebar and you can choose which elements to show and hide.

Get the latest weather information on your iGoogle home page with the Met Office iGoogle gadget.
