Weather gadget for iGoogle

Gadget retirement

The existing Vista, Firefox and iGoogle gadgets will be retired over the next six months. During this time we will gradually be switching off the various datafeeds to the gadgets, starting with the warnings in late March, so you will see data becoming unavailable. The gadgets will be replaced by the new Desktop Widget which will be compatible with a wide range of operating systems and will be available from late March. Find out about:

This iGoogle gadget will give you the latest observation and forecast data on your iGoogle home page. Please note that the Met Office iGoogle gadget currently does not support Internet Explorer 6.

Adding the gadget

  • Sign into your google account. If you do not have a google account you can create one.
  • Click on the add gadget link to add the gadget to your iGoogle home page.
  • Finally confirm that you want to add the gadget to your iGoogle home page.

Customise the weather gadget

To set either your location or region navigate to the relevant section and click the settings icon near the to right hand side of the gadget. Then use the dropdowns menu(s) to selection your location or region. Finally click go to set your region or location.

  • You can select your preferred location for the My Weather section
  • You can select your preferred region for the My Warnings and My Forecasts sections

Remove the weather gadget

  • To remove the Met Office weather gadget from your iGoogle home page simply click the cross in the top right corner of the gadget.
  • If the cross is not visible select the down arrow in the top right corner and click Delete this gadget.
