Average daily minimum temperatures were generally 1 to 2 °C above average across the UK. It was a very wet month across much of the UK with widespread flooding reported in Northern Ireland and parts of eastern Scotland. Northern Ireland had its wettest August in a series back to 1914. It was also an exceptionally dull month across much of the UK, with only the far north of Scotland recording above average sunshine. |
