Today:

A mainly dry but cool morning with sunny periods. Showers build over eastern parts by the afternoon when the Argyll and Kintyre coasts become cloudy. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Tonight:

A cloudy night with clear spells, early showers in the east clear during the evening. Patchy rain or drizzle spreads to Argyll later. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Tuesday:

After a mainly dry start with bright spells, scattered showers build for a time over all but western parts of the area. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

After a dry early morning rain spreads southeast by afternoon Wednesday, becoming dry from early Thursday before a further band of rain spreads east Friday.

Following a couple of days of largely fine and settled weather, a gradual transition to more changeable conditions from the Atlantic is likely to take place with periods of cloud, rain and stronger winds most often affecting the west and northwest. There remains a small chance of an area of heavy, thundery rain affecting parts of the south on Friday 21st, possibly accompanied by briefly hot and humid conditions. Into the last week of June, changeable conditions are likely to remains dominant, with the focus for these conditions continuing to be across the north and west, with spells of more settled and drier conditions likely in the south and east. Nationwide, temperatures are expected to be close to or slightly above average.

There is little sign for any one type of weather pattern to dominate during this period. As such, typical conditions for the UK are most probable with a mixture of weather types. All areas can expected to see some spells of drier, sunnier weather, but there will also be showers or longer spells of rain at times. Currently the only signals, weak as they are, hint that rain and showers will tend to be more biased towards the north and west, with any more prolonged drier interludes favouring the south. Temperatures are most likely to be close to or slightly above climatological average.
