Storm Hector has been named by Met Éireann with widespread gusts of 50 - 60 mph expected across northern Britain.
A deep area of low pressure, named Storm Hector by Met Eireann, will bring a spell of wet and unseasonably windy weather to the northern half of the UK during Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Strong westerly winds will bring widespread gusts of 50-60mph to Northern Ireland early on Thursday morning, before spreading eastwards across Scotland, northern England and north Wales. Wind strengths may reach 70mph in exposed locations.
