Regional Forecast for Wales

Headline:

Bright for a time. Some rain moving east. Rather windy.

Today:

Sunday will start dry with some sunshine. Thicker cloud and rain will edge in across western areas during the morning, with patchy light rain then affecting eastern parts during the afternoon. Meanwhile the west should brighten up again later on. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Patchy rain will soon die out in the southeast this evening, to leave most areas dry overnight with clear spells. However, a few showers may arrive from the west later. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Monday:

There will be some bright spells on Monday. However, much of the day looks fairly cloudy with the chance of some showers developing at times, especially in the west. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Many areas look dry with occasional clear or sunny intervals, although breezy. Some thicker cloud could give drizzle near the west coast and over hills at times. Generally becoming mild.

Updated: 00:33 on Sun 17 Feb 2019 GMT

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Headline:

Plenty of sunshine at first. Increasingly patchy rain moving southeast.

Today:

Sunday will start mostly dry with sunshine. However, a weakening band of rain will move east from western Scotland and Northern Ireland into other western and central areas, accompanied by strong winds. Brighter, with blustery showers in the northwest later.

Tonight:

Sunday night will be cloudy with patchy rain across East Anglia and southeast England. Elsewhere there will be clear spells, but with blustery showers developing in the north and west.

Monday:

The southeast will stay cloudy with patchy rain. Elsewhere there will be sunny spells, with scattered showers in the west and more persistent rain, with blustery winds in the northwest.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Mainly dry in the southeast, but unsettled and often windy in the northwest. Becoming more generally dry and brighter away from the far northwest later. Turning generally very mild again.

Updated: 00:24 on Sun 17 Feb 2019 GMT

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Friday 22 Feb 2019 to Sunday 3 Mar 2019:

Friday is likely to be mild but breezy across the UK with many places dry and sunny. The southeast may see some early mist and fog, but also the best of the sunshine and very mild in places. The far northwest could see some rain and stronger winds; generally cloudier, more changeable here. This northwest-southeast split in conditions is likely to be maintained through the weekend and into next week. Any spells of rain from the northwest will tend to weaken as it moves southeast, bringing cloudier spells. Dry, settled conditions are likely to dominate through the end of February away from the far northwest; overnight frosts are possible. By early March we are more likely to see Atlantic fronts crossing the UK bringing stronger winds and rain at times.

UK Outlook for Monday 4 Mar 2019 to Monday 18 Mar 2019:

By early March there are signals for Atlantic fronts crossing the UK, bringing a mixture of wet and windy weather to many parts, but also intermittent drier spells. Snow remains possible over higher ground in the north. There are weaker signals for snow to lower levels elsewhere should a cold easterly develop; this remains a small possibility. However, milder conditions remain more likely, although occasional overnight frosts remain possible.
