Regional Forecast for London & South East England

Headline:

Dry with long sunny spells after a chilly start.

Today:

It will be a dry day with mostly unbroken sunshine across the region, although this tempered by a stiff easterly breeze, especially in coastal areas. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Dry and clear to start, but cloudier conditions spreading from the east overnight, the cloud perhaps thick enough to give the odd shower by morning. Staying windy in coastal areas. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Monday:

Some bright or sunny intervals, but with showers tending to become more frequent. Feeling cold in the strong east to northeast wind. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Showers, locally heavy and perhaps some longer spells of rain. Some sleet or snow in heavier showers, and some ice overnight. Feeling cold in the strong east or northeast winds.

Updated: 00:21 on Sun 18 Nov 2018 GMT

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Headline:

Mostly sunny today. Cloudier, colder, and showery this coming week.

Today:

A chilly start, then mostly dry and sunny. However, the far northeast may be cloudier at times, and fog patches could be slow to clear in northeast England and northwest Scotland. Generally colder than Saturday, and breezy in the south.

Tonight:

It will be dry with clear periods across western areas, giving a patchy frost. Eastern and later central parts will see cloud arriving from the North Sea, bringing patchy rain.

Monday:

There will be variable, often large amounts of cloud, with the best sunny spells in the west and northwest. Showers developing, mainly in the east and southeast. A cold wind.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Mostly fine in the northwest on Tuesday. Otherwise rather unsettled and cold, with showery outbreaks of rain, especially in the south and east. Some hill snow, and icy patches overnight.

Updated: 00:24 on Sun 18 Nov 2018 GMT

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Thursday 22 Nov 2018 to Saturday 1 Dec 2018:

Throughout this period, the winds look likely to blow in from the east, across continental Europe. This will often bring cloudy skies, with the best of any sunshine in western areas. There is also the likelihood of some showers, these most frequent in eastern parts, but perhaps becoming more widespread and persistent at times. With a chill in the air, there is scope for some sleet or snow, but this will most likely be restricted to the hills. The breeze will make for a marked wind chill at times in the south. With lighter winds further north, and under clear skies at night, overnight frosts are likely to become more common. There is also a small chance of even colder conditions going into early December, in northerly winds.

UK Outlook for Sunday 2 Dec 2018 to Sunday 16 Dec 2018:

Through this period, there may be a continuation of the cold and mainly settled conditions for much of the UK, with some showers coming in from the east. However, there is a chance that during early December the weather pattern may change, with fronts moving in from the west across the Atlantic. This would bring longer spells of rain, interspersed with brighter, showery interludes, and it would also become less cold. However, even if the change does happen, it won't be long before we have more settled conditions again, perhaps by the middle of December. This would mean a return to the colder conditions with overnight frost and fog.
