    Showers of rain, and possibly hail, will move affect western areas this evening, drier overnight for all with clear spells. Turning cold, with a risk of ice in the east by the morning. Becoming milder and windy in the west. Minimum Temperature -5 °C.

    Tuesday:

    Storm Barra arrives, turning very windy especially along north and west coasts. Cloudy and wet at first with hill snow, turning brighter with heavy rain, hail and snow showers later. Maximum Temperature 8 °C.

    Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

    Remaining windy on Wednesday with showery outbreaks of rain, hail and hill snow. Drier, calmer and possibly brighter on Thursday . Further rain and hills snow Friday. Remaining cold.

    Unsettled and rather cold weather continues.

    This Evening and Tonight:

    Drier in most parts for a time, with some clear spells leading to an ice risk in places. However thickening cloud and rain reaches Northern Ireland around midnight, progressing quickly east. Some hill snow in the north. Turning windy again.

    Tuesday:

    Rain continuing eastwards, some snow mainly on hills in the north and west. Clearer conditions with blustery showers following, perhaps heavy with hail, thunder and hill snow.

    Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

    Unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain. Often windy with coastal gales at times. Rather cold though snow mainly restricted to high ground in the north.

    UK Outlook for Friday 10 Dec 2021 to Sunday 19 Dec 2021:

    To begin the period, drier and clearer conditions are likely, allowing for more extensive frost and patchy fog. Cloud and strong winds will travel east across the country, with a chance of showers or longer spells of rain for many. Hill snow likely in the north. Temperatures generally around average. Moving through the period, largely unsettled conditions are likely to persist, with the chance of further showers and longer spells of rain, heavy in places, with a chance of gales. Some showers are likely to turn wintry on hills at times. Towards the end of the period, more settled conditions are likely to develop, most likely with milder temperatures, but a chance of some brief colder interludes.

    UK Outlook for Tuesday 21 Dec 2021 to Tuesday 4 Jan 2022:

    Going into the Christmas period, it is likely to be milder than earlier in the month, with temperatures near to, or above normal, although some colder spells remain possible. It is likely to become more settled around Christmas and towards New Year with increased chance of overnight frost and fog during clearer spells.
