    Sunshine and showers through the day, clearing in the afternoon, and remaining dry for most people. Remaining windy along the north coast but easing elsewhere. Maximum Temperature 15 °C.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    Unsettled, with strong winds and outbreaks of rain, some locally heavy, throughout this period, interspersed with sunshine and showers.

    Heavy rain clearing slowly eastwards, though persisting until morning across parts of eastern England and also Shetland. Clear spells elsewhere, though showers affecting western parts, some heavy. Breezy for many.

    Wednesday:

    Rain soon clearing eastern England, then most parts seeing sunny spells. A scattering of showers also likely, these in the northwest at first then across central parts later. Remaining breezy.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    Often unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain, heavy at times, affecting most parts of the UK. Some drier, brighter periods. Generally windy with risk of gales around coasts.

    Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

    UK Outlook for Sunday 3 Oct 2021 to Tuesday 12 Oct 2021:

    Low pressure is expected to lie close to the UK early in this period. This will bring showers or longer spells of rain, heavy at times, to many areas. Strong winds are also likely, particularly along coasts. As this area of low pressure moves away another is likely to move to the north of the UK. This will bring further showers or longer spells of rain to the north and northwest, along with the potential for strong winds. Drier and more settled conditions are expected across the south and east as high pressure builds, however there is still the possibility of some showers and bands of rain here. Temperatures are likely to start out slightly below average, before returning to near average later in the period.

    UK Outlook for Wednesday 13 Oct 2021 to Wednesday 27 Oct 2021:

    Confidence in this period is low, however the most likely outcome is for a north-south split, with low pressure and the wettest weather remaining in the north, while pressure continues to build in the south or southwest leading to drier conditions. Later in this period, there is the chance for more settled conditions to become more widely prevalent. Temperatures are likely to be around or slightly above average.
