    Regional forecast for Wales

    Heavy rain arriving this afternoon. Sunshine returns on Wednesday.

    Today:

    Any early low cloud will lift to leave a fine morning. East Wales will hang on to warm and bright, albeit increasingly cloudy conditions until late afternoon. Meanwhile heavy rain will increasingly affect much of west and south Wales. Maximum Temperature 23 °C.

    Tonight:

    Heavy rain will cross all parts through the early evening, but should be well to the east before dusk. A few showers following on into western areas, otherwise dry overnight. Minimum Temperature 7 °C.

    Wednesday:

    A dry and mostly sunny start, with any early low cloud soon lifting. The sunshine will turn hazier during the afternoon and a few showers are possible by the evening. Maximum Temperature 20 °C.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    Perhaps a shade cooler on Thursday, but a dry and sunny day nonetheless. Cloudier and breezier with rain or showers on Friday, but becoming mostly dry again for Saturday.

    UK forecast for the next 5 days

    Warm in southeast but turning wet and windy in west.

    Today:

    Sunny spells for many and becoming very warm in southeastern areas. However cloud and rain across Northern Ireland will become more widespread and heavier across the west and then the north, with possible squally, gusty winds and a cooler feel.

    Tonight:

    Wet, windy weather in parts of the north and west clearing although further showery rain into northwestern areas later. Thundery showers cross some southeastern areas at first. Clearer skies otherwise.

    Wednesday:

    Rain across Scotland clearing. Many parts fine, warm in the southeast. Clouding up in northwestern UK with stronger winds and patchy rain, while late thunderstorms are possible across southeastern areas.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    Thundery rain clearing the east early Thursday then most places fresher with a mix of sunshine and showers, these mainly in the north and west.

    Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

    UK Outlook for Sunday 22 May 2022 to Tuesday 31 May 2022:

    On Sunday and into the start of next week, southern parts of the UK likely staying mostly fine and dry with light winds. Still a chance of showers, and a low risk that some of these will be heavy at times. Further north it is likely to be cloudier and breezier, particularly around coasts, with showers that could merge into some longer spells of rain. Temperatures close to average, but perhaps below average in the northwest, though it will still feel warm in the sunshine. Towards the end of next week, rain or showers are possible, most likely in the northeast by this stage, where it will be breezy. Drier further southwest with lighter winds. Most areas becoming mainly dry through the end of May.

    UK Outlook for Wednesday 1 Jun 2022 to Wednesday 15 Jun 2022:

    Into June, temperatures are likely to be above average across the south but closer to average further north. Toward mid-June it may turn less settled across the north of the UK, bringing rain or showers, while the south may remain largely fine.
