Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Monday 1 Jan 2018 to Wednesday 10 Jan 2018:

The New Year looks set to start on a very unsettled note with spells of rain, showers and strong winds through New Years Day with some snow over higher ground in the north. A cold start on Tuesday is expected with further bands of rain and strong winds to follow through the day. This unsettled theme looks set to last through the period with some heavy rain at times, particularly in western areas. Occasional snow remains likely over higher ground in the north and central areas during this time. Any quieter spells are likely to be rather short lived, but the south and east will be drier. Temperatures will vary around average, although some widespread frosts are possible in any quieter interludes.

UK Outlook for Thursday 11 Jan 2018 to Thursday 25 Jan 2018:

A northwest southeast split is likely to be in place by the second week of January with the best of any dry weather in the southeast; the northwest likely to see more rain and stronger winds at times. Temperatures are thought to be around normal or milder than average. Any colder interludes will be shorter lived. There are weaker signals for a colder, more settled spell; this scenario however looks less likely.
