    Regional forecast for East Midlands

Bitterly cold and windy with snow showers.

    This Evening and Tonight:

Frequent snow showers, heavy at times, which combined with the continued strong and bitterly cold wind will give the risk of localised blizzard conditions, especially across the Peak District, along with drifting snow in places. Risk of coastal gales. Minimum Temperature -4 °C.

Strong, bitterly cold winds, with sunny intervals and scattered snow showers. However, the snow showers will gradually become lighter and isolated through the morning to leave a mostly dry afternoon. Maximum Temperature 1 °C.

    Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Monday and Tuesday, bright, scattered wintry showers. Sharp overnight frost but daytime temperatures slowly recovering, with a daytime thaw. Becoming less windy. Wednesday, rain later with stronger winds, milder.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Bitterly cold with snow and ice and strong easterly winds.

    This Evening and Tonight:

A strong easterly wind will bring snow showers across the UK this evening and overnight, these heaviest and most frequent in eastern areas. More prolonged snow will spread across southern areas overnight; disruptive accumulations are possible here by dawn.

Prolonged snowfall is expected across southwestern areas. Snow will ease across the south later. Snow showers will continue further north, remaining bitterly cold and windy everywhere; brightest in the northwest.

    Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

It will be an icy start on Monday; brighter, drier and less cold through the week. By Wednesday wind and rain will spread across northern and central areas.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Thursday 22 Mar 2018 to Saturday 31 Mar 2018:

After a clear frosty start across southern areas on Thursday, a band of cloud and rain will spread across all parts, followed by blustery showers, these heaviest in the northwest. Showers will die out on Friday as thicker cloud and rain spreads in from the west, becoming windy. While daytime temperatures will recover to around normal, for a time we may still see overnight frosts. By the weekend it will turn unsettled and rather cold across most parts with some prolonged outbreaks of rain, particularly in western areas. Low pressure is expected to be close to the UK by the start of Easter week, with a mixture of showers, more prolonged spells of rain and some snow likely in the north.

UK Outlook for Sunday 1 Apr 2018 to Sunday 15 Apr 2018:

There is significant uncertainty in the forecast throughout this period, but a blocked or slowly changing weather pattern is probable. There will most likely be a balance between Atlantic frontal systems affecting the south and west at times with colder air associated with high pressure out to the northeast. Mixed conditions are likely with wetter than average weather expected across the south, while staying drier and perhaps colder to the north. Further snow is possible, especially in the north. Windy conditions likely at times. Temperatures will likely be below average with further night frosts, and any milder interludes will probably be only brief.
