    Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

    Rain and hill snow at first Monday, but turning brighter later. Risk of gales Tuesday with rain and hill snow followed by showers. Continuing cold, very windy and unsettled Wednesday.

    Clear spells and showers, these mostly in areas exposed to the northwest. More persistent rain and hill snow affecting some eastern and northeastern parts. Remaining windy but frosty in sheltered spots.

    Sunday:

    Further showery rain across some eastern areas, perhaps edging into central parts but dying out. Sunniest across western parts as showers fade. Winds easing but staying cold.

    Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

    Band of rain moving east Monday, preceded by snow, mainly on hills. Wet and increasingly windy Tuesday, with coastal gales in the west. Staying windy with blustery showers on Wednesday.

    UK Outlook for Thursday 9 Dec 2021 to Saturday 18 Dec 2021:

    Thursday generally cloudy with showers or longer spells of rain for most places. Possibility of coastal gales in the west, otherwise lighter winds and temperatures near normal, perhaps rather cold in the north. Remaining largely unsettled Friday and Saturday, with some hill snow likely at times, mainly in the north. Temperatures moving closer to average, and the chances of gales continues. Further into the period, breezy with further showers and longer spells of rain at times, heavy rainfall moving further south. Clearer spells following any prolonged rainfall, with some showers becoming wintry. Towards the end of the period, more settled conditions likely with mild temperatures, but the chance of some cold interludes bringing a risk of frost.

    UK Outlook for Sunday 19 Dec 2021 to Sunday 2 Jan 2022:

    Getting into the Christmas period, it is likely to be milder than earlier in the month, with temperatures near to above normal, although some colder spells remain possible. It is likely to become more settled around Christmas and towards New Year with increased chance of overnight frost and fog during clearer spells.
