    A mainly dry evening with clear spells at first, but cloud soon thickening from the south. Rain will spread to Galloway by midnight and spread northeast overnight. Little rain reaching the east coast. Minimum Temperature 8 °C.


    Any overnight rain should soon clear to a mostly dry but cloudy day, although sunny spells for the Borders. Heavy rain spreads into the Borders late afternoon. Maximum Temperature 16 °C.

    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

    Some rain on Friday morning then drier in the afternoon. An unsettled weekend with showers or longer spells of rain and windy at times.

    Rain in the East Midlands and northwest England will move to northeast England during the evening. Rain is also likely overnight in parts of Scotland. Elsewhere, it will be cloudy, mild and mostly dry, with mist and fog on hills.


    Although there will be some dry and bright weather, rain will move from central-southern England into central and northern England. Later, rain and strong winds will arrive in the west.

    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

    Wind and rain slowly clearing Friday leaving a brighter afternoon. It will become wet and very windy overnight into Saturday, bringing severe coastal gales. Winds and rain will ease Sunday.

    UK Outlook for Monday 23 Oct 2017 to Wednesday 1 Nov 2017:

    After a dry start in the southeast, most of the UK is expected to have outbreaks of rain on Monday and Tuesday, which could be heavy and persistent on western hills. Brighter showery weather may spread into northwestern parts at times. Temperatures are expected to be above normal for the time of year, and perhaps warm in some eastern parts. Later in the week, the southeast will have a greater chance of drier weather but it will probably stay rather wet and windy in the northwest. There could well be a calmer period of weather towards the end of the month with rain and strong winds less frequent than recently. This would bring more sunshine but an increased risk of chilly nights, and overnight fog for some.

    As we head into November, a changeable pattern is most likely at first, bringing spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed with drier and brighter interludes. The most unsettled weather is likely across the north and west, with the south and east often staying drier and brighter. These drier conditions may become more prolonged as we head through November, bringing an increased chance of sunshine, but also a risk of frost and fog overnight. However, northern parts may remain more unsettled with a greater chance of wet and windy weather. Temperatures are likely to stay close to normal for the time of year, although it may be colder than normal where settled spells are prolonged.
