    Regional forecast for North West England

    Scattered heavy showers and sunny spells. Feeling cold.


    Bright spells and scattered, locally heavy showers throughout this morning. The showers will be locally heavy and mixed with hail, and wintry over the higher Lakeland fells. More sunshine around in the afternoon, but feeling cold in the strong wind. Maximum Temperature 7 °C.


    Showers will fade leaving a dry and cold evening with clear skies. After midnight scattered showers will affect parts of the south, these falling as sleet or snow in places. Minimum Temperature -1 °C.


    Isolated wintry showers in the south first thing on Thursday will swiftly clear to leave a fine, dry and cold day. Cloudier with rain and hill snow in the evening. Maximum Temperature 5 °C.

    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

    Overnight rain and hill snow clear before dawn leaving Friday dry and bright. Further rain Friday evening, then unsettled and very windy on Saturday. Sunshine and isolated showers on Sunday.

    Brighter, colder and windy. Some showers, wintry further north tonight.


    Overnight rain soon clearing, then most parts seeing occasional sunshine but also areas of cloud and blustery showers, some of these heavy. Colder than Tuesday, showers turning wintry in the north. Windy, with gales mainly in some coastal fringes.


    Many inland areas clearer and frosty for a time. Northern parts of Scotland seeing some snowfall and ice. Patchy rain and snow may affect some western and then southern areas.


    Many areas seeing plenty of chilly sunshine. Snow and hail showers in northern Scotland easing, but wintry showers fringing eastern coastal counties. Northwest UK seeing rain and hill snow later.

    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

    Unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain. Some snow at times in the north, mainly over hills. Often windy, particularly in the southwest on Saturday. Rather cold.

    UK Outlook for Monday 6 Dec 2021 to Wednesday 15 Dec 2021:

    A cold start to Monday with overnight frost and ice possible. Cloud increasing from the west through the day with outbreaks of rain, possibly wintry down to low levels at times in the north and east of the UK. Likely turning windier during the day with strong winds most likely in the west. For the rest of the period, unsettled weather dominates with spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed by interludes of sunshine and showers. More prolonged spells of rain are possible, heavy at times. Initially these more likely across the south and west, although the greatest risk probably transfers north through the period, which could then see rain turning wintry at times. Generally cold, with milder interludes briefly in the south. Overnight frost and icy patches likely throughout.

    Remaining generally unsettled at first, with wettest and windiest conditions likely moving further north with drier and brighter spells developing in the south and southeast at times. Temperatures likely to be milder than earlier in the month, with temperatures near to above normal, although some colder spells remain possible. It is likely to become more settled around Christmas and towards New Year with increased chance of overnight frost and fog during clearer spells.
