Regional forecast for North East England

Rain spreading east through the day. Cold and clear overnight.

    Today:

Many areas dry and breezy first thing with rather cloudy skies, feeling rather warm. Spells of rain, some heavy, will move eastwards late morning onwards. Winds will ease by late afternoon with rain starting to ease and slowly clear. Maximum Temperature 17 °C.

    Tonight:

Any rain should clear the coast by dusk, leaving clear skies and light winds. This will lead to quite a cold night, with perhaps some mist and fog by dawn. Minimum Temperature 4 °C.

    Friday:

A sunny and chilly start with any isolated fog patches clearing. However, cloud will thicken again during the day, with some patchy light rain arriving later in the afternoon. Maximum Temperature 17 °C.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Mostly dry with variable amounts of cloud and bright spells Saturday. Dry again Sunday with sunny spells, and feeling warm. Chance of rain on Monday, but some dry conditions too.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Tuesday 26 Sep 2017 to Thursday 5 Oct 2017:

As we head through the end of September, there will be a west/east split in the weather. The west is likely to be cloudier with outbreaks of rain, perhaps heavy at times. In contrast, the east will be drier and brighter, but with generally light winds for all parts, there could be some chilly nights with mist and fog forming under any clearer skies. Towards the start of October, this split will continue but it is likely to turn windier and increasingly unsettled in the west, with a risk of gales or severe gales, particularly in the northwest. These unsettled conditions will erratically spread eastwards, but some central and eastern areas may perhaps stay dry throughout. Temperatures will generally be above normal, perhaps warm across central and eastern areas.

UK Outlook for Friday 6 Oct 2017 to Friday 20 Oct 2017:

More unsettled weather will perhaps be more widely established by the end of the first week in October, most especially in the north and west. This will bring an increased likelihood of stronger winds and heavier rain across many areas. By mid October, confidence in the forecast reduces, however it may remain generally unsettled with occasional drier and brighter spells. On the whole, temperatures will be close to or slightly warmer than normal, but in any settled spells there could be chilly nights, with an increased risk of mist, fog and frost, especially in the north.
