    Thursday dry, bright, warm for most. Rain in the northwest.


    Mainly cloudy over the northwest, with occasional rain gradually spreading south across the Western Isles then Skye and the Northwest mainland. Elsewhere another dry sunny and very warm day, locally hot in Nairn and Strathspey. Maximum Temperature 24 °C.


    A sunny start to the evening in the Great Glen and Strathspey, but the cloud in the northwest extending to Inverness this evening, and all but far south overnight. Minimum Temperature 13 °C.


    A cloudy start for most but sunnier skies in Lochaber then spreading north to reach Lochalsh and Inverness but remaining cloudier across North Highland and Isles. Very warm in south. Maximum Temperature 24 °C.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

    A a lot of dry and bright weather with sunny spells and becoming generally very warm to hot. . Patchy haar possible on east coast. Showers possible later Sunday, Monday.

    A dry, clear and warm night for most. Staying cloudier over the far north of Scotland with occasional, mostly light, rain.


    Another sunny and hot or very hot day for most away from northern Scotland. Here staying cloudier and cooler with a little light rain and drizzle.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

    Mostly dry, sunny and hot this weekend. Cooler with some haar in the northeast. Monday likely less hot with some showers or thunderstorms.

    Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

    UK Outlook for Monday 15 Aug 2022 to Wednesday 24 Aug 2022:

    This period will see the breakdown of the hot, sunny and dry weather of recent days, with conditions becoming more unsettled across the UK. Showers will spread from the west and south next week, sometimes heavy and thundery, though drier periods with sunny spells are still likely between them. At the same time, temperatures will gradually decrease to closer to normal for August. Later in the period, the more changeable weather will prevail with a risk of heavy showers or thunderstorms continuing, but clear and dry spells in between too. Returning to warm or very warm towards the end of the period for much of England and Wales, perhaps becoming locally hot in parts of the south and southeast.

    Following a period of unsettled weather, we may see generally more settled conditions towards the end of August. As we head into September, spells of rain or showers are likely, with the most widespread of these in the north and west. However, periods of dry and sunny weather can still be expected in between. Temperatures are likely to be above average, with the occasional chance of very warm spells.
