    Further snow showers, most frequent across western Lochaber this evening though sleety near the coast. These showers becoming less heavy overnight. Largely dry in the east with clear spells towards Nairn. Severe frost and ice. Minimum Temperature -9 °C.

    Saturday:

    Still some wintry showers in the north and west but becoming isolated with many area having a dry sunny afternoon. Severe frost in evening. Maximum Temperature 4 °C.

    Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

    Rain preceded by snow on Sunday, with a thaw later. Brighter with a few showers on Monday, more frequent later. Further showers Tuesday and turning wet during evening.

    Wintry showers and strong winds are going to ease overnight. There is a cold night in store with frost and ice forming. Becoming wet and windy in the far south and west, although slightly milder with frost less likely.

    Saturday:

    Rain and some hill snow across southern and central parts of the UK will gradually clear with some brighter spells likely later. Dry and chilly elsewhere with lighter winds.

    Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

    Sunday wet and windy, risk of snow in the north. Monday rain in south clears then drier and brighter everywhere. Tuesday windy with some rain likely in the west. Milder.

    Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

    UK Outlook for Wednesday 24 Jan 2018 to Friday 2 Feb 2018:

    A band of rain will gradually clear on Wednesday with brighter but showery conditions following on behind. It will stay changeable towards the end of the working week with a mixture of sunny spells and showers or longer periods of rain. Northwestern parts are likely to see the heaviest rain with snow possible over high ground, and it will be driest in the south and east. Also, it will be windy at times particularly in the northwest. As we head through to the end of the week and indeed the beginning of February, it is likely to turn mainly dry and perhaps colder, particularly in the south, with overnight frost and fog more likely here. Winds are expected to ease overall with any strong winds more likely in the north.

    UK Outlook for Saturday 3 Feb 2018 to Saturday 17 Feb 2018:

    Early February is likely to bring a relatively settled period of weather with a good deal of dry weather, relatively light winds and frost and fog expected to form overnight. There is considerable uncertainty at this stage however, as we head towards the middle of February we are most likely to see short spells of wet and windy weather move across the UK, interspersed with colder, brighter and drier interludes. Throughout this period temperatures are expected to average out at close to normal but it will be colder at times during the periods of more settled weather
