    A bright day with sunny spells, but still some showers, though mostly light and gradually dying out, with best of the sunshine across Orkney in the afternoon. Strong westerly winds easing then turning southwesterly but freshening later. Maximum Temperature 11 °C.

    Tonight:

    Some clear spells but cloud gradually increasing and south to southwesterly winds will strengthen with outbreaks of rain spreading from the west late in the night. Minimum Temperature 6 °C.

    Friday:

    Rain becoming heavy and prolonged, but clearing to showers over Orkney towards midday and across Shetland in the afternoon with winds turning westerly and easing. Dry with clear spells later. Maximum Temperature 12 °C.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

    Strengthening southwest winds Saturday with further rain, drier over Orkney. Heavy rain developing overnight, turning to showers Sunday afternoon with cold northwest winds. Spells of rain Monday and still windy.

    Today:

    Patchy fog will linger in some spots through the morning, but generally it will become a fine day with sunny spells. There will be some patchy cloud around, mainly across parts of central and southern England.

    Tonight:

    Staying dry for most with clear spells, and a risk of frost and fog. Wet and windy weather will arrive in some northern and western areas during the early hours.

    Friday:

    Rain at times in Scotland and Northern Ireland, and perhaps on hills in northern England and Wales. Otherwise a bright day with sunny spells, after any early mist has cleared.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

    Wet and windy in the north at times, with only a few brighter spells. Drier and brighter in the south with variable cloud, and feeling warm at times.

    UK Outlook for Tuesday 23 Oct 2018 to Thursday 1 Nov 2018:

    The start of the period will be mainly dry across most areas, although it could be rather cloudy. The best of the sunshine is likely in the southwest. However,the far north will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain, turning heavy at times in the northwest. It will also be windy across the north with gales possible in the far north of Scotland. Thereafter, it is likely to stay generally changeable across northern areas through this period with spells of wet and windy weather interspersed with brighter and showery spells. Drier and brighter conditions are likely in the south, particularly in central and southwestern areas of England and Wales. Temperatures are expected to vary around average by day, but some frost and perhaps some patchy fog is possible overnight.

    UK Outlook for Friday 2 Nov 2018 to Friday 16 Nov 2018:

    More widely unsettled conditions could develop during the beginning of November, bringing spells of wet and windy weather. There are signs that high pressure may build across northern areas towards the end of this period, bringing a greater likelihood of drier weather here and also overnight frost and fog. Changeable conditions are more likely to continue across the south and west. On the whole temperatures are likely to be below normal, but some short lived milder spells are likely in periods of wet weather.
