    Fair start in east, otherwise a cloudy, occasionally wet day.


    Some brighter spells this morning, particularly towards the eastern coastal fringes, but cloud thickening from the west to bring some patchy light rain, which turns more persistent by mid-afternoon, with a chance of heavier outbreaks towards early evening. Maximum Temperature 17 °C.


    Overcast with rain, which turns heavier at times during the evening, before easing overnight, with dry conditions spreading from the southwest towards dawn. Winds freshening along east coast. Relatively mild. Minimum Temperature 9 °C.


    Dull, cloudy start with some patchy rain, mainly across eastern Aberdeenshire. Gradually brighter spells spreading across western parts, but remaining cloudy for most, with occasional rain around eastern coastal fringes. Maximum Temperature 14 °C.

    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

    Occasional weakening rain bands spreading from west, but most outbreaks very patchy with good bright or sunny spells developing east of Elgin. Southerly winds occasionally strong.

    A mostly dry night across the UK, although some cloud and rain pushing into Northern Ireland and western Scotland, and the odd light shower in the southwest.


    Outbreaks of rain continuing in northwestern parts, along with some locally strong winds for western coasts and hills. Dry with sunny spells in the southeast.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    Rain spreading eastwards Thursday. Mostly dry and sunny on Friday but rain arriving in the northwest, and then west later. Mainly dry and fine on Saturday, cloudier in the north.

    UK Outlook for Sunday 24 Sep 2017 to Tuesday 3 Oct 2017:

    Through to the end of September it will probably stay rather unsettled in the north and western half of the UK, with rain and stronger winds at times, perhaps even gales for the far northwest next week. Further south and east there will be more in the way of sunshine and lighter winds. It is likely to become quite warm during the day at times, especially in the south and east, but with chilly nights in the forecast. There may be some mist and fog patches around first thing and these may last well into the morning on some days. Early in October the rather unsettled weather in the northwest will probably extend into the rest of the UK.

    UK Outlook for Wednesday 4 Oct 2017 to Wednesday 18 Oct 2017:

    As we head further into October there is considerable uncertainty in the forecast, although it looks most likely to be settled in the south and southeast at first, with the best of the dry and sunny weather. A more marked northwest-southeast split could develop again across the UK, bringing rain and strong winds across the northwest, with more unsettled conditions probably reaching all areas by the second half of the week. Temperatures will be close to or slightly above normal, with the south and southeast perhaps rather warm by day at first. However,there will be some chilly nights with early morning mist and fog as well as an increased chance of frost, most likely in the north.
