    Any isolated showers will die away through the evening with clear spells. Cloud will tend to increase again overnight with the southerly winds increasing fresh to strong by dawn. Minimum Temperature 6 °C.


    Mainly dry with bright spells, the best of these in Orkney, although some patchy rain is possible. The southerly winds fresh or strong, occasionally reaching gale force around Shetland. Maximum Temperature 12 °C.

    Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

    Breezy with a few showers on Wednesday. Drier with bright or sunny spells on Thursday and easing winds, but some rain returns on Friday along with freshening winds.

    Murky for many with some drizzle, clearer for Northern Ireland.

    This Evening and Tonight:

    Murky with fog and some drizzle, mainly over the hills, across much of England, Wales and later Scotland, though clearer in the extreme southeast. Some frost and isolated fog elsewhere but windy in the far northwest with some rain later.


    Sunny in the southeast, otherwise a damp and grey start across much of England and Wales, then some bright spells developing. Windy with mostly light rain arriving for northwestern areas.

    Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

    Patchy light rain in parts of England on Wednesday, sunny elsewhere with showers in northwest. Frosty start Thursday, then mostly sunny. Friday, sunny for most, perhaps rain for west Scotland.

    UK Outlook for Saturday 20 Oct 2018 to Monday 29 Oct 2018:

    This weekend will slowly become more changeable across the country. Southern and many central areas will start dry with sunny periods after early fog clear. Northern areas will be more cloudy with outbreaks of rain and strong winds. The rain may move southwards through the weekend, turning lighter towards the southeast. Brighter and showery conditions will follow behind. Thereafter, it is likely to stay changeable with periods of wet and windy weather interspersed with brighter and showery spells. The heaviest rain is likely in the north, where there's a risk of gales. Generally drier and brighter in the south, particularly in central and southwestern areas. Temperatures varying around average, but becoming rather cold later with an increasing risk of overnight frosts.

    UK Outlook for Tuesday 30 Oct 2018 to Tuesday 13 Nov 2018:

    By the end of October and into early November weather systems may become slow moving at times. This will lead to the risk of longer unsettled spells and, conversely, the chance of longer settled spells. Western and northwestern areas will probably see the wettest and windiest conditions, with the south and east often drier and brighter, although still with some rain at times too. During any generally settled and drier spells of weather there is an increasing risk of overnight frost and fog, especially in the north of the UK. On the whole temperatures are likely to be rather cold, but some brief milder spells are also possible.
