This period heralds a change to the weather with cooler temperatures, more cloud and a risk of thundery showers on Monday and Tuesday. Longer periods of rain possible on Tuesday.

Fine and sunny for most with any low cloud and fog clearing quickly during the morning. Hot or very hot with highest temperatures in central and southern England.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Dry, sunny and hot in the south Sunday but heavy showers or thunderstorms for parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Becoming widely unsettled from Monday with showers and thunderstorms. Cooler.

A generally unsettled start to the period for many with a risk of some prolonged heavy or thundery showers in the south and east. In contrast, the north is expected to see more settled conditions with a fair amount of cloud. The southwest may experience the best of any sunshine, while areas of more persistent yet lighter rain are likely in the northwest. Into the weekend, periods of rain will alternate with drier and clearer weather. Any prolonged rain is expected to occur across the northern parts. Temperatures likely near normal at first, but becoming rather warm again further into the period, especially in the south. Unsettled conditions will continue to dominate for most towards the end of the period.

Following a period of unsettled weather, we may see generally more settled conditions towards the end of August. As we head into September, spells of rain or showers are likely, with the most widespread of these in the north and west. However, periods of dry and sunny weather can still be expected in between. Temperatures are likely to be above average, with the occasional chance of very warm spells.
