    A very windy start, with gales and severe gales. These strongest along the coast, before easing away east. A cold feeling day follows, with sunny intervals, but also occasional showers possible, perhaps with hail or sleet. Maximum Temperature 10 °C.

    Tonight:

    A largely clear and cold night, leading to a widespread frost. Whilst the odd shower cannot be completely ruled it should remain dry. Minimum Temperature -1 °C.

    Friday:

    A largely fine, dry day, with frequent sunny spells expected. However it will still feel cold, with brisk winds and with one or two rain or hail showers also possible. Maximum Temperature 4 °C.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

    Frosty start Saturday, then sunny with brisk winds easing. Frosty again overnight, before rain spreads east Sunday, preceded by some snow. Less cold Monday, and rather cloudy, with rain possible

    A cold night with showers continuing to move across the UK from the west, these most frequent and wintry in the northwest. It will be driest in the southeast, where there could be some good clear spells. Some icy stretches.

    Friday:

    An icy start in places, with sunny spells and blustery, wintry showers through the day. The showers will be heaviest across western parts, with further snowfall in the northwest.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

    Saturday, mainly dry, bright but some rain in the southwest. Overnight and into Sunday turning wet and windy, with snow in parts of the northeast. Milder and unsettled on Monday.

    UK Outlook for Tuesday 23 Jan 2018 to Thursday 1 Feb 2018:

    Outbreaks of heavy rain will arrive from the west on Tuesday and spread to all areas for a time on Wednesday, with any snow likely restricted to the Scottish mountains. The best of the drier and brighter weather is likely in the southeast. It will stay changeable towards the end of the working week with brighter, but showery periods interspersed with bands of cloud and rain. Again, northwestern parts are likely to see the heaviest rain with snow possible over high ground, and it will be driest in the south and east. Also, it will be windy at times particularly in the northwest. By the beginning of February it is likely to remain changeable and occasionally mild with an increased chance of more settled, colder weather, especially in the south.

    UK Outlook for Friday 2 Feb 2018 to Friday 16 Feb 2018:

    Through the first half of February the UK's weather is likely to be characterised by a mixture of short-lived spells of unsettled weather interspersed by showery conditions and longer periods of more settled and drier weather. The unsettled spells will bring cloud and rain to parts of the UK and the showery periods may give some snow in the north, especially over high ground. During the settled spells, it is likely to be cold with overnight frost and fog. Temperatures are expected to fluctuate around the average for the time of year.
