General situation

High pressure across southern areas will decline for a time, allowing a weakening cold front to sweep southeastwards across all areas on Sunday. High pressure will then re-assert itself strongly to the southwest of the United Kingdom, with strong gradients on its northern flank bringing gales to northern areas.

Cape Wrath to Rattray Head including Orkney - Strong wind warning

24 hour forecast: Southwesterly 5 or 6, occasionally 7 in north, veering westerly 6 or 7, perhaps gale 8 later in north. Smooth or slight at first in Moray Firth, otherwise slight or moderate in east, moderate or rough, becoming rough or very rough later in north. Occasional rain or drizzle, showers later. Moderate or good, occasionally poor until later in north.

Channel Islands

24 hour forecast: Northeast to east 2 to 4, locally variable 1 to 3 in the north of the area overnight, backing northeast to north Sunday afternoon. Smooth or slight. Mist patches mainly near the French coast early Sunday morning. Good, locally moderate to poor early morning.
