General situation

A complex Atlantic low maintains the southerly flow across the British Isles, as it tracks northeast across the northern isles on Monday, with a ridge building over the United Kingdom into Tuesday.

Cape Wrath to Rattray Head including Orkney - Strong wind warning

24 hour forecast: South or southeast 5 to 7. Moderate or rough, but slight in inner Moray Firth. Occasional rain, then squally showers in northwest. Good, occasionally moderate.

Outlook for the following 24 hours: South, veering southwest, 5 to 7, then northwest 5 or 6 later. Moderate or rough, but slight in inner Moray Firth and very rough for a time in northwest. Showers in north. Good.

Channel Islands - Strong wind warning

24 hour forecast: Southerly 4 to 5, occasionally 6 at first, decreasing 3 to 4 by evening, veering south to southwest 3 to 5 by midnight. Slight in the south to moderate in the north, locally rather rough mid-channel until early afternoon. Patchy light rain slowly spreading in from the west from afternoon mist and risk of fog patches. Moderate to good, locally poor, becoming moderate to poor in the afternoon, perhaps locally very poor.

Outlook for the following 24 hours: South to southwest 4 to 5, perhaps occasionally 6 mid-channel at first, locally 3 in the southeast, veering west to northwest 4 to 5 early evening, decreasing 3 to 4 overnight.
