Many parts should see a dry day with some bright or sunny intervals, but cloud may be thick enough at times to give a little light rain here and there. Feeling warmer than of late. Maximum Temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

Rather cloudy at times across the region overnight, with cloud again thick enough to give a little light rain in places. Minimum Temperature 12 °C.

Thursday:

Many parts will see a dry day with some sunny spells. However thickening cloud will bring outbreaks of persistent and perhaps heavy rain to the west through the afternoon. Maximum Temperature 20 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Dry with sunny spells on Friday, but increasingly cloudy later. Saturday mainly dry and bright with sunny spells. Sunny spells on Sunday but rain possible in the west by evening.

What are tides?

Tides refer to the rise and fall of a body of water, most commonly seen in the oceans; caused by the interaction between the moon, sun and Earth.

As the positions of Earth, sun and moon change in relation to each other, the gravitational pull and centrifugal forces acting upon the oceans vary and it is these differences that cause fluctuation in the height of the sea which we see at the tides going out and in.

In the UK we mostly experience a semi-diurnal tide which means we experience two high tides and two low tides each day. These occur approximately every 12 hours and 25 minutes.
