The rain, sleet or snow will clear eastwards during the evening with easing winds. It will be mainly dry thereafter with clear spells leading to a touch of frost in the more sheltered glens. Minimum Temperature 0 °C.

Monday:

Mostly dry with bright spells, the best of these in the east. A bit cloudier in the west with a few showers. Feeling less cold than recent days. Maximum Temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Showers or longer spells of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday and turning milder. Windy, with a chance of gales on Wednesday. A few showers on Thursday and turning colder again.

What are tides?

Tides refer to the rise and fall of a body of water, most commonly seen in the oceans; caused by the interaction between the moon, sun and Earth.

As the positions of Earth, sun and moon change in relation to each other, the gravitational pull and centrifugal forces acting upon the oceans vary and it is these differences that cause fluctuation in the height of the sea which we see at the tides going out and in.

In the UK we mostly experience a semi-diurnal tide which means we experience two high tides and two low tides each day. These occur approximately every 12 hours and 25 minutes.
