Current activities

Laura has been working in the UK energy industry since 2007. She is currently a wind energy specialist at the Met Office in Exeter, providing scientific consultancy services to the renewables and wider energy sector.  Some recent projects have included ice accretion and dynamic line rating of overhead electricity transmission networks, assessment of the meteorological impacts of adapted topography, and services supporting the development of the UK Floating Offshore Wind sector.

Career background

Laura studied Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial College, London and holds an MSc in New & Renewable Energy from Durham University. After her studies she spent three years as a Wind Resource Analyst at Ecotricity, UK, during which she was closely involved with the implementation of wind monitoring campaigns, resource assessment and wind turbine micrositing.
