Senior Trainer, Met Office College
I've been involved in aviation forecasting for more than 20 years, starting as an Airfield Forecaster at RAF Finningley, a flying training airfield in Yorkshire. Detachments to various RAF and Army Air Corps airfields in the UK followed, then three years at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. As well as training RAF pilots and navigators, I've taught general aviation and helicopter pilots, navigators from the Royal Saudi Air Force, and senior staff at the major international airports around London. I've delivered training at the Met Office College but also on site to delegates from other national weather services in South Africa, Turkey, Swaziland, Italy, Tanzania, Southern Ireland and Cyprus. I will soon be training forecasters from the Korean Met Agency.
