I joined the Met Office in 2003 and have nearly 5 years' experience in aviation forecasting. Having worked initially at RAF bases and specialising in helicopters, I spent six months forecasting for long-haul flights on Ascension Island before gaining experience of civil aviation forecasting at the Met Office Operations Centre in Exeter. I joined the Met Office College in July 2008 and since then my key role has been to develop new forecasters. A big part of their training involves aviation meteorology.
