    mainly dry this evening and overnight with variable amounts of cloud leaving some long clear spells. Southerly winds easing but then freshening again later. Minimum Temperature 7 °C.

    Saturday:

    A bright and dry morning, especially across Lanarkshire and to the east of Glasgow. Cloud increases during the afternoon with perhaps a little rain over the Argyll hills. Breezy. Maximum Temperature 18 °C.

    Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

    A rather cloudy period is expected with outbreaks of rain, with more eastern parts likely to see the best of any drier, brighter conditions. Occasionally fresh southerly or southeasterly winds.

    Wet and windy in the west, drier further east.

    Today:

    After a chilly start, there will be some warm sunshine across southern and eastern parts. However, across the north and west a band of cloud and rain, accompanied by strong winds will slowly push in from the west.

    Tonight:

    Largely dry and chilly in the far northwest and the far southeast with some clear spells. Elsewhere it will be cloudy and milder with patchy rain and drizzle.

    Saturday:

    Warm sunshine across much of the UK after a cloudy start, but remaining cloudy across northern England and southern Scotland. Wet and windy weather arriving across the far northwest later.

    Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

    Cloudy with rain in the west on Sunday, dry, bright and warm elsewhere. Similar on Monday, though drier across Northern Ireland. Brighter for most on Tuesday with scattered showers.

    Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

    UK Outlook for Tuesday 26 Sep 2017 to Thursday 5 Oct 2017:

    As we head through the end of September, there will be a west/east split in the weather. The west is likely to be cloudier with outbreaks of rain, perhaps heavy at times. In contrast, the east will be drier and brighter, but with generally light winds for all parts, there could be some chilly nights with mist and fog forming under any clearer skies. Towards the start of October, this split will continue but it is likely to turn windier and increasingly unsettled in the west, with a risk of gales or severe gales, particularly in the northwest. These unsettled conditions will erratically spread eastwards, but some central and eastern areas may perhaps stay dry throughout. Temperatures will generally be above normal, perhaps warm across central and eastern areas.

    UK Outlook for Friday 6 Oct 2017 to Friday 20 Oct 2017:

    More unsettled weather will perhaps be more widely established by the end of the first week in October, most especially in the north and west. This will bring an increased likelihood of stronger winds and heavier rain across many areas. By mid October, confidence in the forecast reduces, however it may remain generally unsettled with occasional drier and brighter spells. On the whole, temperatures will be close to or slightly warmer than normal, but in any settled spells there could be chilly nights, with an increased risk of mist, fog and frost, especially in the north.
