UK forecast for the next 5 days

Cloudy for most, outbreaks of rain for some western areas.

    Today:

Cloudy but dry for much of the UK, with limited bright or sunny breaks and perhaps some patchy drizzle. Outbreaks of rain and a stronger wind will affect some western areas, heavy at times, but easing later in the day.

    Tonight:

Rather cloudy, with stronger winds and outbreaks of rain continuing to affect west and north western parts at first. Some clear spells elsewhere will allow a frost in places.

    Sunday:

Most parts of the UK will be rather cloudy but largely dry, with brighter breaks developing during the day. Wet and windy weather will arrive in the northwest by lunchtime.

    Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Heavy, squally rain will push southeastwards across the rest of the UK on Monday. Colder, brighter weather then follows, along with frequent, blustery, and for some wintry showers.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Wednesday 17 Jan 2018 to Friday 26 Jan 2018:

This period will begin unsettled with sunny spells and frequent blustery showers. These are likely to be heavy with hail and thunder possible, and they will be wintry too, especially in the north where snow could accumulate for some. Longer spells of rain may affect the south at times, whilst all areas will be windy with gales or severe gales at times. For a short while, showers may slowly become lighter and less widespread, with winds easing although coastal gales are still probable. Later in the month though, we could see a return to more unsettled weather from the west. Overall, it will be cold throughout, and feeling especially so in the wind. Widespread overnight frost is likely as well as the risk of ice, especially where winds fall lighter.

UK Outlook for Saturday 27 Jan 2018 to Saturday 10 Feb 2018:

Through the end of January and into early February, the unsettled weather is likely to continue with strong winds, spells of rain and the risk of wintry showers. These conditions are likely to affect many areas at first, however with time this may become more focused across the northwest, although confidence is low at this stage. Therefore, southern and southeastern parts of the UK may well become more settled and perhaps colder, bringing an increased likelihood of more widespread frost and fog. This may spread to all areas for a time. Temperatures will be below average at first, but are expected to return closer to normal as we head into early February.
