    Showers of rain, sleet and snow will push eastwards this evening, though will start to fizzle away leaving mostly clear skies overnight. Temperatures will drop off quickly, frost and icy stretches are likely by the morning. Minimum Temperature -5 °C.

    Tuesday:

    Turning very windy and wet by lunchtime as Storm Barra arrives, heavy snow fall is expected over hills which may lead to blizzard conditions on high routes. Feeling cold. Maximum Temperature 5 °C.

    Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

    Sunny spells and blustery showers of rain, sleet and snow on Wednesday. Calmer, drier and brighter on Thursday and Friday but remaining cold with a continued risk of hill snow.

    This Evening and Tonight:

    Drier in most parts for a time, with some clear spells leading to an ice risk in places. However thickening cloud and rain reaches Northern Ireland around midnight, progressing quickly east. Some hill snow in the north. Turning windy again.

    Tuesday:

    Rain continuing eastwards, some snow mainly on hills in the north and west. Clearer conditions with blustery showers following, perhaps heavy with hail, thunder and hill snow.

    Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

    Unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain. Often windy with coastal gales at times. Rather cold though snow mainly restricted to high ground in the north.

    UK Outlook for Friday 10 Dec 2021 to Sunday 19 Dec 2021:

    To begin the period, drier and clearer conditions are likely, allowing for more extensive frost and patchy fog. Cloud and strong winds will travel east across the country, with a chance of showers or longer spells of rain for many. Hill snow likely in the north. Temperatures generally around average. Moving through the period, largely unsettled conditions are likely to persist, with the chance of further showers and longer spells of rain, heavy in places, with a chance of gales. Some showers are likely to turn wintry on hills at times. Towards the end of the period, more settled conditions are likely to develop, most likely with milder temperatures, but a chance of some brief colder interludes.

    Going into the Christmas period, it is likely to be milder than earlier in the month, with temperatures near to, or above normal, although some colder spells remain possible. It is likely to become more settled around Christmas and towards New Year with increased chance of overnight frost and fog during clearer spells.
