    Very cold this evening with a hard frost soon setting in and temperatures falling well below freezing. Turning cloudy overnight with a band of snow reaching Dumfries and the western Borders, turning to rain near the coast. Minimum Temperature -8 °C.

    Sunday:

    Broad band of snow, falling as rain near the coast, persisting through the day. Snow level gradually lifting during the day then clearing to showers and clear spells overnight. Maximum Temperature 6 °C.

    Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

    A marked change from the previous week with winds now from the southwest, bringing milder weather, a general thaw, strong winds and occasional rain, with outbreaks heaviest across the west.

    Cold with a frost or severe frost, especially across northern parts where temperatures will fall well below zero with freezing fog patches expected. Mist, fog and low cloud across much of England and Wales with rain arriving here later.

    Sunday:

    A cold start for many. Rain in the southwest will spread to all parts and turn to snow in the north for a time with disruption possible. Becoming drier later.

    Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

    Monday, turning drier and brighter after early rain in the south clears. Windy on Tuesday and Wednesday with bands of rain crossing from the west but with some drier spells.

    UK Outlook for Thursday 25 Jan 2018 to Saturday 3 Feb 2018:

    After a bright but brief colder and showery interlude at the end of the week with frost likely overnight it will become milder and changeable again. This means that many of us will see brighter, showery periods interspersed with bands of cloud and rain. Rain is likely to be heaviest in western parts with snow possible over the high ground, and it will be driest in the south and east. Also, it will be windy at times particularly in the northwest. However, as we head through to the end of January, it is likely to turn mainly dry and perhaps a touch colder, particularly in the south, with overnight frost and fog more likely here. Winds are expected to ease overall with strong winds becoming mostly restricted to the north.

    UK Outlook for Sunday 4 Feb 2018 to Sunday 18 Feb 2018:

    Early February is likely to bring relatively settled conditions with a good deal of dry weather, relatively light winds and frost and fog expected to form overnight. However spells of wet and windy weather are still likely across the north. There is considerable uncertainty at this stage however, as we head towards the middle of February we are most likely to see short spells of wet and windy weather move across the UK, interspersed with colder, brighter and drier interludes. Throughout this period temperatures are expected to average out at close to normal but it will be colder at times during the periods of more settled weather
